    Haptic advertising is a sensory marketing strategy that connects with customers not only through what they see or hear, but also through what they feel.

    What is haptic advertising?

    Haptic advertising (also known as tactile marketing) uses touch as an advertising tool to influence purchasing decisions. It goes beyond simply seeing an ad: you can touch, feel, or physically experience it. This activates a more emotional and profound part of the consumer.

    It is also known as tactile marketing, and is a fundamental part of neuromarketing and cognition.

    This is nothing new. We have always been surrounded by examples of tactile experiences in marketing: from printed magazines with textures and sample products to packaging with eye-catching shapes and premium materials.

    According to cognitive theory, cognition is responsible not only for what we perceive with our brains, but also with our bodies. When we touch an object, our brain creates an instant sense of ownership, known as the endowment effect. This phenomenon makes us value what we touch more, increasing our intention to purchase.

    A study showed that contact with a product generates the following in consumers:

    • 41% increase in brand trust.
    • 20% improvement in perceived quality.
    • 24% increase in purchase intent

    This means that allowing consumers to touch or feel a product can directly increase sales.
