Best movies about marketing and advertising

    By Contact Anunciart | Advertising | 0 comment | April 11, 2024 | 0

Marketing is an indispensable element. It requires prior analysis of the characteristics of the business, must be adjusted to the economic and social situation of the corresponding business sector, identify the target audience for the product or service, and evaluate the status of competing companies. With these premises in mind, defining the strategy will be easier than trial and error.

That's why this time we want to give you a list of movies in which this element can be clearly observed, and not only is it present, but it can also be found in a fun context.

    1. The Social Network (2010)

Twelve years have passed since this film was shot, and you can imagine how many updates this social network has undergone during those 12 years. How many times has its demise been predicted, and yet it is still here, holding strong.

The Social Network, directed by the incredible David Fincher (Gone Girl, House of Cards, Zodiac) and starring Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield as the two creators of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, respectively, is available on Amazon Prime Video.

Based on Ben Mezrich's book "Accidental Billionaires," it has the same screenwriter as Steve Jobs, Aaron Sorkin (it seems that Sorkin is motivated by affable personalities).

    2.: The Founder (2016)

The Founder, El Fundador, or Hambre de Poder (depending on the country) is an American biopic about Ray Krock (Michael Keaton), who, although he did not found McDonald's, was the one who realized the business's potential.

A clear example of how a good strategist managed to turn the franchise into the global fast-food empire it is today is currently available on Apple TV.

    3. Thank You for Smoking (2005)

Available on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV, its original title is"Thank You for Smoking."It is a film based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Buckley, which satirically tells the story of Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart), vice president of the Academy of Tobacco Studies.

Naylor is responsible for linking cigarette consumption to any harm to consumers, but paradoxically, most of the funding for this company comes from tobacco companies and, of course, when presenting the results of his studies, tobacco never comes out losing.

    4. The Truman Show (1998)

It would be impossible not to include this film, which has already gone down in the history of world cinema. We are talking about The Truman Show, or El Show de Truman, as it was known in Spain, a film directed by Peter Weir, written by Andrew Niccol, and starring an impeccable Jim Carrey, who plays Truman Burbank, a person who, at birth, was adopted and raised by a corporation within a simulated reality television show that focuses on his life.

Truman's life is filmed by thousands of hidden cameras 24 hours a day and broadcast live around the world, allowing executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) to capture Truman's real emotions—who is unaware that he is part of a fiction—and human behavior when placed in certain situations.

The plot begins to get exciting when Truman discovers the truth and tries to escape from this unreality, despite the constant obstacles imposed by the production.

    5.Chef (2014)

She is known as Chef in Spain and Chef at Home in Mexico. Available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Movistar Plus, this film tells the story of chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau), who quits his job at a famous restaurant in Los Angeles after confronting the controlling owner for refusing to compromise his creative integrity.

While in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend, and his son to open a Cuban food truck, returning to his roots and falling in love with cooking again, his true passion.

    6.Joy (2015)

Joy is a film that is 100% recommended for entrepreneurs and marketers. Its protagonist, Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence), is a woman who went from being a housewife to a businesswoman worth millions of dollars thanks to the sales of her inventions. She became famous for designing the Miracle Mop, a self-wringing mop that became an overnight TV sales success. Joy knew how to transform her knowledge of cleaning into innovative and easy-to-use products.

Although it tells a classic story where marketing was traditional, this film teaches you the basic rules of a marketing strategy. You can find it in the Disney Plus catalog.

    7. The Jones Family (2009)

Although it was not a box office success, this film has a lot to offer, as it tells the story of a supposedly perfect family consisting of a married couple with a son and a daughter, who move to an upper-middle-class neighborhood and quickly become the talk of the town, envied and adored by everyone.

However, the Joneses are not a real family, but employees of a marketing company perfectly executing a marketing strategy to introduce a series of luxury products into the neighborhood.

8.The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. Documentary (2011)

Following his success in 2004 with "Super Size Me," director Morgan Spurlock returned to the documentary genre with "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold."

In this documentary, Morgan Spurlo shows us the power that big brands have in the film industry, how marketing and advertising objectives can lead to a film's script being changed at the request of the advertiser, and how the desire to sell and create new consumer needs means that advertisers' demands are endless.

It is impressive to see a city like Sao Paulo completely free of advertising and how merchants have changed their advertising methods as a result. Mogan Spurlo's approach to advertising a shampoo created for both people and horses is spectacular.

    9. The Intern (2015)

This comedy by director Nancy Meyers, available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Movistar Plus, tells the story of Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro), a retired sales executive and widower who, tired of not finding an activity that fills his time and makes him feel fulfilled, decides to enroll in an internship program for seniors.

Ben thus becomes an intern at a fashion e-commerce company, working under its young founder Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway). The two characters will have to learn to work together, finding the perfect synergy between their personalities and working methods.

    10.Steve Jobs (2015)

Although there are several films based on the life of Apple's co-founder, we have chosen this one because of the quality of director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) and its main actors: Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, and Jeff Daniels.

The film is based on the only authorized biography of Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson. It focuses on three important moments in Jobs' career: the launch of the first Macintosh computer (1984), the first NeXT computer (1988), and the presentation of the first iMac (1998). Each of these launches coincides with a key personal moment in the life of "this affable genius": the paternity suit filed by his ex-girlfriend, his resignation from Apple, and his subsequent return as Apple's CEO.

It's impressive to see the creativity, originality, and dedication of a genius like Steve Jobs, but from a distance! If you have an Apple TV or Amazon Prime Video account, you already have plans for the weekend.
